digitally printed fabric for Jem cartoon fashions
I posted a pattern and sewing guide for Integrity Toys Jem doll-sized capri pants on the Misfits Collection page of my website. This is the pattern I made for Rapture’s tiger print pants and it also works for pants such as those worn by Pizzazz in the Misfits music video “I Am a Giant” and by Roxy in the first 5 episodes of the Jem cartoon. It works for both stretchy and non-stretchy fabrics. If you’d like to line the pants, use the same pattern for the lining, using a lightweight fabric such as cotton silk voile. If you have any questions, just let me know!
Minx, rocking a Santa Baby look in the official JemCon 2014 holiday fashion by Tivia, which arrived in the mail last week along with box art by Allie. I just love the liquid metal cape-skirt trimmed with white fur. And the fabulous velvety beret with a bright fuchsia bow just strikes me as something that Minx would wear! I decided to swap the jumpsuit for a strapless minidress (also made of black velvet), because Minx wanted to show off her shiny black boots!
I’m holding a fabric design contest and the theme is “black & yellow,” in celebration of the upcoming release of collector Stingers dolls. The contest deadline is September 15th — right around the time that Integrity Toys dealers are scheduled to ship Riot, Minx, and Rapture dolls to adoring fans who have pre-ordered them.
There are prizes (and I’m hoping they’ll entice you to participate!), including this cartoon-based Rapture doll fashion. This fashion is fully lined to avoid dye transfer onto the doll’s body. **Update** Here are photos of Rapture modelling the fashion I made for this contest!
The fashion includes a custom-printed slouchy turtleneck halter top, black & yellow tiger-print pants, a black pleather belt, 2 black pleather cuffs, 2 red bangles, a gold bracelet, and a gold armband (the gold bracelet and armband are actually ear cuffs made by the truly outrageous Carl Buehler, but we’ll just say they’re the spoils of one of Rapture’s infamous cons!).
This doll fashion (sorry, the doll and shoes are not included) and the other prizes will be shipped after results are announced October 23rd. There is also an award for voters: one randomly selected voter will win a roll of Jem-inspired wrapping paper), so even if you won’t be submitting a fabric design, I hope you’ll stop by my Contests page and vote between September 20th and October 20th!
