digitally printed fabric for Jem cartoon fashions
I am over the moon whenever someone makes a Jem doll fashion using my digitally printed fabrics. Recently, two Jem doll hobbyists, Ethera and Allison, ordered a set of fabrics based on a fashion that Clash wears in the episode “One Jem Too Many” from my shop on Spoonflower.com, and brought these fabrics to life with some beautiful sewing.
In “One Jem Too Many,” Pizzazz engages Clash Montgomery to disguise herself as Jem and run amuck in L.A. in order to ruin the real Jem’s reputation. Clash quickly achieves this mission by slopping potato salad on a man’s head at the Red Rock Café, throwing records like frisbees in a shopping mall, crashing Flint Westwood’s movie premiere, and verbally abusing Jem’s road crew.

In a pinnacle scene in the episode, the real Jem confronts Clash onstage as she is roasting a stadium full of Jem’s fans. Knowing Clash’s singing voice is not up to par, Jem challenges her to sing something. With a spotlight blinding her and the crowd demanding a performance, Clash hesitantly attempts to rise to the challenge, but fails miserably! It’s a super entertaining episode, and the outfit that Clash wears is a fan favourite. Jem must like this outfit, too, because she herself wears it in a later episode, “Beauty and the Rock Promoter”!
Ethera and Allison both used performance knit for Clash/Jem’s chevron top and leggings. Ethera tried out Spoonflower’s new fabric, modern jersey, for the striped skirt, but reported that the white base of the fabric showed through the black ink along her seams; Allison had better luck with Spoonflower’s cotton sateen for the black & white striped skirt. Allison used my dotted fabric design for the ruffles under the corset, while Ethera opted for some glitter ‘n gold. I think both versions are just fab!!

Thanks guys! We’re seriously wowed by our amazing fan community.
I posted a pattern and sewing guide for Integrity Toys Jem doll-sized capri pants on the Misfits Collection page of my website. This is the pattern I made for Rapture’s tiger print pants and it also works for pants such as those worn by Pizzazz in the Misfits music video “I Am a Giant” and by Roxy in the first 5 episodes of the Jem cartoon. It works for both stretchy and non-stretchy fabrics. If you’d like to line the pants, use the same pattern for the lining, using a lightweight fabric such as cotton silk voile. If you have any questions, just let me know!
Minx, rocking a Santa Baby look in the official JemCon 2014 holiday fashion by Tivia, which arrived in the mail last week along with box art by Allie. I just love the liquid metal cape-skirt trimmed with white fur. And the fabulous velvety beret with a bright fuchsia bow just strikes me as something that Minx would wear! I decided to swap the jumpsuit for a strapless minidress (also made of black velvet), because Minx wanted to show off her shiny black boots!
